More Media Against Women

The first part of this article fits in nicely with our discussion of advertising and how women are frequently objectified in advertisements, wear make up makes them look like animals or as if they were given black eyes and frequently but in passive and submissive positions when compared to men. The advertisement in question is advertising Dolce and Gabbana, who is known for their expensive clothes and accessories, but this ad is really just emphasizing the sex, voyeurism and the designers name and we barely look at the silly purple shirt the creepy guy in the front is wearing.
The rest of the article criticizes the popular Grand Theft Auto video game for subjecting its audience to killing prostitutes for money. This is extremely degrading to women and is enforcing terrible behavior in the young children who play this game. The article also points out that just like the Dolce and Gabbana advertisement it is depicting men as aggressive and active while women are always passive and submissive to them, especially in sexual situations. The advertisements for Grand Theft Auto also depict women as sexual objects and reinforce negative stereotypes in young and impressionable minds.

Dolce & Gabbana ads are my favorite to collect because they are always shocking and often disturbing. The *ads* certainly never make me want the product – as you said, who even notices the product?
